  Ann J. Kellogg School did an excellent job of affirming the words of Jesus for me recently. I know - how could a public school do that? Please read on.
  
  Since my family and I live in the neighborhood of this school, I often pick up litter around the edges of their property during my nightly dog walks. I never expected anything in return, of course. I just try to be a good neighbor. Recently, however, when my children were sitting on our front porch, minding their own business, a group of Kellogg students called out to them from the playground to ask why they weren't in school. Granted, our children should have simply gone into the house, since that is what we teach them to do when strangers ask them a question that is none of their business. However, when our children politely responded that they are homeschooled, the students told them, "We don't like homeschoolers." For good measure, the Kellogg students also proceeded to inform our children that they didn't like their clothes, shoes (which I don't think were even visible), or house either. Why no supervisors intervened, I'm not sure.
  
  So, what do I plan on doing? I plan on continuing to pick up litter around the school's property and be the best neighbor I can. And the students who insulted my children for no reason? They are in my prayers. After all, Jesus told us to do those very things (Matthew 5:44). Thank you, Ann J. Kellogg School, for this opportunity to live out His words.
